SSYO 50th Anniversary

Thank you to Rudy, Alan Denike, our SSYO musicians, and alumni for creating and sharing your talents with the community, what a wonderful concert!  Thanks as well to friends and family for your help and support in making the event and the entire season so special!

The SSYO would also like to say thank you to the organizations and individuals who donated items for the raffle:

TD Sask Jazz Fest, Leopold’s, Long & McQuade, Bits of Fluff by Andrea, Bushwakker, Conexus Arts Centre, Sherwood Coop, Regina Summer Stage, Regina Globe Theatre, Cecilian Chamber Series, Regina Musical Club, Skyglow Studio, Agave Restaurant, Brent’s Lamps, and SaskPower

Europe Trip

In July, 2026 the SSYO is excited to travel to Paris where they will perform at Le Pavillon de la Sirene. The orchestra will then travel to Vienna to perform at the World Orchestra Festival.

The South Saskatchewan Youth Orchestra (SSYO) offers students from across Southern Saskatchewan an orchestral experience: the opportunity to learn, perform, travel, and make lasting friendships with other youth muicians. The SSYO, under the direction of Rudolf Sternadel, is open to orchestral musicians from the ages of 12-26.

Auditions for the 2026-2027 are now complete and the musicians chosen for the upcoming season. If anyone is interested in playing with the SSYO but missed the audition opportunity, please contact ssyomembership@gmail.com for more information about auditioning.

We are also pleased to announce the winner of our annual Concerto Competition. Congratualtions to Yi Gao (flute) who was the winner of this year's competition. Special mention also to Alejandro Gahite (violin) who was the runner up.
